Presents of Srikrishna

वैशम्पायन उवाच पाण्डवैः सह संयोगं गतस्य दुपदस्य ह। न बभूव भयं किंचिद् देवेभ्योऽपि कथंचन॥
Vaishampayana said : After his alliance with the Pandavas, Drupada had all his fears dispelled; and he did not fear even the celestials.

कुन्तीमासाद्य ता नार्यो द्रुपदस्य महात्मनः। नाम संकीर्तयन्त्योऽस्या जग्मुः पादौ स्वमूर्धभिः॥
The ladies of the illustrious Draupada's (household) all came to Kunti; and mentioning their respective names, they saluted her with their heads touching the ground.

कृष्णा च क्षौमसंवीता कृतकौतुकमङ्गला। कृताभिवादना श्वश्र्वास्तस्थौ प्रह्वा कृताञ्जलिः॥
Krishna, attired in red silk and with her wrists still encircled with auspicious thread, saluted her mother-in-law with reverence; and she then stood before her contentedly with joined hands.

रूपलक्षणसम्पन्नां शीलाचारसमन्विताम्। द्रौपदीमवदत् प्रेम्णा पृथाऽऽशीवर्चनं स्नुषाम्॥
Out of affection Pritha (Kunti) pronounced a blessing on Draupadi, endued with beauty and auspicious marks and with sweet disposition and good character.

यथेन्द्राणी हरिहये स्वाहा चैव विभावसो। रोहिणी च यथा सोमे दमयन्ती यथा नले॥
Kunti said : As Sachi is to Indra, as Svaha to Vibhavasu, as Rohini to Soma, as Damayanti to Nala.

यथा वैश्रवणे भद्रा वसिष्ठे चाप्यरुन्धती। यथा नारायणे लक्ष्मीस्तथा त्वं भव भर्तृषु॥
As Bhadra to Vaishravana, as Arundhati to Vasishtha and as Lakshmi to Narayana, so be you to your husbands.

जीवसूर्वीरसूर्भद्रे बहुसौख्यसमन्विता। सुभगा भोगसम्पन्ना यज्ञपत्नी पतिव्रता॥
Oamiable girl, be the mother of long-lived and heroic children and possess every thing that can make you happy. Be lucky and prosperous, be faithful to your husbands and a performer of great sacrifices.

अतिथीनागतान् साधून् वृद्धान् बालांस्तथा गुरून्। पूजयन्त्या यथान्यायं शश्वद् गच्छन्तु ते समाः॥
Let your time be ever passed in duly entertaining your guests, the strangers that come to your house, the pious men, the old men, the children and the superiors.

कुरुजाङ्गलमुख्येषु राष्ट्रेषु नगरेषु च। अनु त्वमभिषिच्यस्व नृपति धर्मवत्सला॥
Be installed with the virtue-loving king (Yudhishthira) as the queen of the kingdom and the capital of Kurujangala.

पतिभिर्निर्जितामुर्वी विक्रमेण महाबलैः। कुरु ब्राह्मणसात् सर्वामश्वमेधे महाक्रतौ॥
Let the whole earth, conquered by your greatly powerful husbands, be given to the Brahmanas in a great Ashvamedha sacrifice.

पृथिव्यां यानि रत्नानि गुणवन्ति गुणान्विते। तान्याप्नुहि त्वं कल्याणि सुखिनी शरदां शतम्॥
O accomplished girl, what gems of great qualities are in the world, let them all belong to you. O blessed girl, be happy for (full) one hundred years.

यथा च त्वाभिनन्दामि वध्वद्य क्षौमसंवृताम्। तथा भूयोऽभिनन्दिष्ये जातपुत्रां गुणान्विताम्॥
O daughter-in-law, as I rejoice to-day on seeing you in red silk, so I shall rejoice when you will give birth to an accomplished son.

वैशम्पायन उवाच ततस्तु कृतदारेभ्यः पाण्डुभ्यः प्राहिणोद्वरिः। वैदूर्यमणिचित्राणि हैमान्याभरणानि च॥
Vaishampayana said : After the Pandavas had been married, Hari (Krishna) sent them various golden ornaments set with pearls and Vaidurya gems.

वासांसि च महार्हाणि नानादेश्यानि माधवः। कम्बलाजिनरत्नानि स्पर्शवन्ति शुभानि च॥
Madhava (Krishna) also sent (to them) costly robes of various countries, many beautiful and soft blankets and skins,

शयनासनयानानि विविधानि महान्ति च। वैदूर्यवज्रचित्राणि शतशो भाजनानि च॥
Various costly beds, carpets and conveyance and hundreds of vessels set with diamonds and Vaidurya gems. to

रूपयौवनदाक्षिण्यैरुपेताश्च स्वलंकृताः। प्रेष्याः सम्प्रददौ कृष्णो नाना देश्याः स्वलंकृताः।।१६।
Krishna gave them thousands of maidservants, all young, beautiful and accomplished and adorned with all ornaments and brought from various countries.

गजान् विनीतान् भद्राश्च सदश्वांश्च स्वलंकृतान्। रथांश्च दान्तान् सौवर्णैः शुभैः पट्टैरलंकृतान्॥
He also gave them many well-trained elephants of the country of the Madras, many excellent horses adorned with ornaments and many chariots drawn by heroes of excellent colours and large teeth.

कोटिशश्च सुवर्णं च तेषामकृतकं तथा। वीथीकृतममेयात्मा प्राहिणोन्मधुसूदनः॥
Madhusudan (Krishna) of immeasurable soul sent to them also in separate heaps millions of coins of pure gold.

तत् सर्वं प्रतिजग्राह धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः। मुदा परमया युक्तो गोविन्दप्रियकाम्यया॥
Wishing to please Govinda (Krishna), Dharmaraja Yudhishthira, being himself filled with great joy, accepted all those presents.
